Failure is NOT an Option: Micro trenching and Redundancy

Track: Operations

Session Number: 1072
Date: Mon, Dec 14th, 2020
Time: 12:30 PM - 1:20 PM

Description:

In our rush to get fiber everywhere, many are looking at micro trenching as a means to cut costs and speed deployments. While micro trenching can yield significant savings in civil works, cables placed in shallow trenches will inevitably be disturbed and those disturbances often lead to failures. This panel session lead by Corning will bring together a cable manufacturer, duct manufacturer, opto-electronics manufacturer and a construction company to explore the best strategies to make a micro trench network more reliable and easier to repair. Learn from a diverse group of industry experts how to plan ahead to avoid network failures or at least minimize the impact they have on you and your customers. (Panel with Corning/Ditch Witch/Fujitsu/Duraline/Quanta)
Session Type: Breakout Session (45 minutes)

Learning Objective #1: Attendee will learn how to build redundancy into their micro trench networks to avoid network failures.
Learning Objective #2: Attendees will understand micro trenching deployment strategies that improve network reliability and simplify repairs.
Intended Audience Level: Intermediate
Stage of fiber deployment: Vendor
