5G - Planning, Architecture and Infrastructure Considerations in the Deployment of 5G Technology

Track: Operations

Session Number: 1122
Date: Tue, Dec 15th, 2020
Time: 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Description:

Fiber networks (e.g. FTTH) are now built and operating throughout North America and investment in the next few years will see them become highly prevalent in the majority of areas. At the same time, we are now starting a massive investment in 5G technology. It is already accepted that 5G will require fiber connectivity to the majority of radio sites in order to delivery the low latency and high bandwidth that is required to deliver true 5G network performance. The question is, how will the 5G market prepare to build the infrastructure that allows the next generation of fiber to succeed along with all the networks that are already built. The goal is to move forward and leave no one unconnected. 5G connectivity cannot be trial and error. In this session, we will discuss the challenges and requirements needed to bring 5G to the fiber world, by discussing their mission to provide infrastructure and fiber connections built to ensure seamless connectivity
