City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri announced in August 2019 their investment of $120 million to connect approximately 113,000 households to advance the utilities information requirements and to then facilitate high-speed broadband services through the selection and lease of excess fiber to qualified Internet Service Providers. This project is laying the foundation for residents and businesses to truly benefit from a Gigabit city.
There are many nuances when delivering a project of this size and scale that can often determine a programs’ success or failure; technology, design, and the underlying processes all play a role; however when forward thinking collaborates across planning, design, engineering and construction, the potential for success is significantly advanced.
