Jim Falvey is a partner with 25 years’ experience handling telecommunications regulatory matters at the federal, state, and local levels, primarily for competitive local exchange carriers. For 15 years, he served as a senior executive and in-house counsel for several competitive telecom carriers, providing a thorough understanding of telecom networks, numbering issues, and other internal operational functions. Jim also represents fiber network companies, negotiating IRU, long-term fiber lease, conduit, private easement, and municipal franchise agreements. Before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Jim represents competitive providers on many fronts, including interconnection, unbundling, numbering, VoIP, and Section 253 rights-of-way issues. At the state level, Jim helps telecom providers meet state regulatory requirements, ranging from certification to financing and merger approvals. Jim was a member of the CompTel Board of Directors for five years. He graduate cum laude from Cornell University and received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Before practicing law, Jim was a legislative assistant for U.S. Senator Harry M. Reid.
