Managing Your Fiber Broadband Installation by Managing Your Sub-Contractors and Your Test Data

Track: Fiber Broadband Starter Kit

Session Number: 126
Date: Sun, Jun 2nd, 2019
Time: 3:45 PM - 4:30 PM
Room: Naples

Description:

This session draws from real world experiences in deploying fiber and identifies the potential pitfalls found in too many contracts. Fiber standards documents and fiber optic training classes teach us a lot of technology and can provide valuable knowledge and skills. However, they do not always teach us how to handle sub-contractors who build and/or provision our fiber networks. Which specifications and test requirements should be included in sub-contracts? Which specs might actually compromise your network quality? How do you best test for that? Find answers to these questions and more!
Session Type: Breakout Session

Learning Objective #1: Learn which key fiber testing requirements should be included in Sub Contractor solicitations and contracts. Learn which key go/no go , Pass/Fail parameters should be included in contract language.
Learning Objective #2: Understand the turn-up tests required at provisioning and test tools requirements. Learn which tests are possibly redundant or not required. Learn why requiring certain fiber testing can actually DECREASE you network quality.
Intended Audience Level: Essentials
