FTTH Basics and Network Design. The goal of this session is to provide a broad background of the topic of FTTH so the attendee will be better able to appreciate content in later sessions in the conference. In this session, we discuss the drivers behind the insatiable demand for bandwidth. We’ll then talk about the role of fiber in today’s network. From there, we’ll give definitions and details about the components of a typical fiber to the home network. We then discuss typical installation techniques. Finally, we discuss tradeoffs for different network architectures.
